March Madness: A Month in a Minute

30 03 2009

The month of March has been a whirlwind of activity for the Jenkins family, as we press on with our training and support-raising for the field and continue life “as usual” — at least as much normalcy as we can derive from our harried schedule. You’ll have to excuse the brief hiatus from blogging and enjoy a few highlights of our “March Madness.”

March 3:  Thank Heaven, she’s seven!  Our oldest child, Emma celebrated seven years since her birth.  (We can hardly believe it!)  Emma and three giggly “BFFs” recognized the big day with a slumber party and group viewing of “Jonas Brothers 3-D.”  The girls had a great time.

March 7:  From baby blues to terrible twos …  Our “baby,” Isaac celebrated his 2nd birthday!  He’s cute, cuddley and anything but terrible!  Our little guy is full of humor, conversation and laughter.

March 13:  We traveled to the Hoosier state, visiting with a number of churches, family and friends along the way.  We are praying to build strong relationships (through financial support and hosting short-term teams) with churches in Anderson, Indianapolis and Kokomo.

March 15:  Dan tried his hand at preaching. …  He delivered a message to the congregation at Grace Fellowship Church in Kokomo. Do you think God can’t use you in ministry?  Think again … If God can use a donkey, He can surely use your talents! (Ask Dan about it next time you see him!)

We really enjoyed this opportunity to meet and worship with the people of Grace Fellowship Church.  This congregation has a wonderful prison ministry and assists in reintroducting people into society once released from prison.  This is a fantastic way to show Christ’s love to others!

March 16:  We celebrated my (Sue’s) nephew’s 4th birthday.  Our kids are enjoying spending quality time with their cousins before heading off to Costa Rica.

March 19:  We concluded our spring break tour of Indiana and are praying for God to move in the hearts of the individuals with whom we shared our calling.

What better way to conclude “March Madness” than purging possessions and preparing  to place the house on the market?  The last two weeks, we have been painting, replacing flooring, and doing lots of spring cleaning in order to get the house ready to sell.  Know anyone looking to buy a lovely, 5-bedroom home in Manchester, Mo.?  Send them our way.

Thanks, Sue for sharing your plans with me…God sure does have skills! Please keep me abreast of your journey in bringing God’s word to folks who will become your friends. All of you are cloaked in prayer. God loves you and there is nothing you can do about it!
